Our Verdict

The Viofo A139 3CH 3-channel camera is unique for its discrete interior camera (most are integrated with the strawma camera). It's versatile for placement, but IT adds other cable television. Information technology wuold be a good fit for ride-giving pros. It takes gravid video from all angles, and information technology interfaces nicely with your phone.

Viofo's A139 3CH three-channel, ternion-camera dash River Cam system is a first in our feel. We've tested three-channel products before, but the interior tv camera has e'er been coeducational into the same body as the front camera. Viofo's is distinguish, as is the rear camera.

The upside to this distinct interior camera approach is versatility in locating each camera. The downside, though easily surmountable, is that you have many cables to hide.

Innovation and features

The A139's three cameras are also notable for their high resolution. The 140-level FOV front tv camera is 1440p, patc the 170-degree cabin (inside) and tush cameras are both 1080p. All manage 30 fps while transcription simultaneously, which means in that location's a fair amount of processing power nether the hood. High-quality Sony STARVIS IMX335 sensors are used by all three cameras.

main camera Viofo

Viofo's A139 main (forward) camera torso. There's no display. Alternatively, the camera relies on a Wi-Fi-connected phone app for displaying hold ou views and changing settings.

The main (forward) camera body uses a sticky mount. The photographic camera attaches/detaches from aforementioned backing aside sliding to the left or right. There's no allowance once mounted (set up carefully!), and there's no display. Alternatively of the latter, the A139 relies along a Wi-Fi-connected phone app for displaying live views and changing settings. Feedback is provided by status lights, vocalisation, and other sound clues.

On the back of the main camera are power, memorialise on/off, emergency brake record (save), the mike on/forth, and Wi-Fi buttons. You must link up to the phone to change the numerous other settings, and you can't record while doing so. Small weigh–you shouldn't be driving while using your phone anyway.

There's quite a little in the box to support tercet cameras, A you can see below.

packing list 1 Viofo

As you can ensure, the A139 packs a lot of stuff into the box, and there's a lot of cabling to enshroud. If you let a hopped-up mirror, snap up an adapter to power the main camera. That bequeath cut pop along the clutter.

As I mentioned, the most problematic aspect of the A139 is the cabling. The cables are spare, and they snap into place using mini COAX connectors. How more than of an issue they'll equal depends on where you place them.

With most cars, you'll want to hide the main camera behind the rearview mirror (use an adapter to power the A139 if the mirror is powered), and the interior camera somewhere high on the windshield so it covers as much of the back seat as possible. Viofo thoughtfully includes a spudger/crevasse tool for tucking the cables away behind molding.

As you posterior run into, there's atomic number 102 display on the Viofo A139. It instead relies on voice and other audio feedback to let you know what's going on.

The notable feature of the interior camera is the infrared light array–six lights surrounding the lens. Other, as you tin can ensure in the two upcoming images, it's a dead bell ringer for the rear camera.

interior camera Viofo

The Interior camera for the Viofo A139 features sextuplet infrared light lights to enhance low-light captures.

The A139's photographic camera is nothing special, though it does take away some of the best video we've seen for a unit peering out your back window.

rear camera Viofo

The rear tv camera for the Viofo A139 is physically identical to the interior camera, with the elision that it has no infrared lights surrounding the lens.

Other features include integrated GPS (embedded in the video and watermarked on the video), a parking mode, and a polarizing filter. The last mentioned increased reflectivity somewhat, though it did tamp glare from the sun.

Performance

As you can see below, the A139's daytime captures are excellent, offering a very wide, 140-degree field of operation of view without much fisheye distortion.

Front day captures are excellent, though the the 170-grade lens captures quite flake of the dashboard in my small sports car.

Viofo includes a polarizing filter, simply during everyday use (as shown below) it increased the loudness of the dashboard reflections quite a bit.

The polarizing percolate is supposed to cut pile on spotlight, only increased coefficient of reflection from the upcountry dramatically. And yes, I hadn't set the readout to MPH. Divide aside 1.6.

The A139's devalued-get off captures (shown below) aren't half-nonstandard. Note that it was impossible to keep the windshield all unspotted with the San Francisco Marine layer hit the car on and off. Note the surpassing color depth. And that's without WDR (Wide Dynamic Range) enabled. It was non about as light out as the image below would make it seem.

Front man night captures were excellent. This capture doesn't show it, but the camera handles headlight flare very well.

Rear captures are as good as the front captures, albeit with a touch fewer detail (1080p versus 1440p). Short letter that the band running horizontally across the figure of speech to a lower place is a defrosting heater cable, not an bring out with the camera. Situatio yours better.

The rearward camera during the daytime. The dark line running horizontally across the midway is a heater conducting wire, non a defect in the camera.

You behind really value the wide fish of the set up optical lens when you understand the night chatoyant on a lower floor. Once more, moisture is responsible any of the halos.

This rear night capture is also quite an white. Most of the halos are caused by moisture on the window. And yes, I was parked.

In the first daytime interior shooter below, notice that the view is soh extensive, you backside come across the main camera and buildings budget items. There was no room higher on my midget, immerse windshield or I'd have set the camera high. If I'd used the phone to check the view, I would have aimed the camera lower. One of the foibles of life without a display on the tv camera itself.

viofo a139 3 IDG

This day capture by the Interior Department camera shows lots of point, and lots of ceiling. Most users will mount the tv camera high and aim it take down.

At left in the interior night gaining control below, the sloppy cable run that fell down of the molding in my railroad car presents a teachable moment. I was in a hurry, okay?

viofo a139 5 IDG

Interior night captures express very much of detail. And the wide field will enamour virtually all of the cabin that's not hidden.

In summary, there's nothing to worry about when it comes to video quality with the A139. Thanks to the wide fields of view, the system covers nearly every your car's surroundings and interior, and the results are nicely detailed and colorful.

Conclusion

The Viofo A139 3CH is an easy Editor's Choice. Information technology takes fantastic video. With the exception of the Nextbase modular cameras with their telephoto nates cameras, the A139 is my unused deary. The discrete design lets you mountain the cameras at their unexcelled accomplishable vantage points, especially helpful for ride-givers who want to hold an eye on what's expiration on in the backseat. If you want to track everything in and around your car, the A139 3CH has you covered.
